CURRENT PSYCHOLOGICAL THEORIES: The cognitive/developmental perspective.

INFORMATION PROCESSING:
(based on the assumption that second language acquisition consists of the building up of knowledge that can eventually be called on automatically for speaking and understanding).

McLaughlin’s attention-processing model

Here is a very short PowerPoint Presentation which summarizes the main tenets of this model.
This is just an example to get started. Be ready to do something similar with other models, theories and hypothesis included in our study guide!  Let´s start with these ones:
  • Implicit and explicit models
  • Connectionism
  • Interaction hypothesis
  • Noticing hypothesis
  • output hypothesis
You should go over the material you already have and create a few slides for a Power Point Presentation. Make sure you include  the key concepts and assumptions. Your work can be done in pairs!
Print your slides and be ready to present your work to the class on Wednesday 6th. If by that day, we can use our netbooks, much the better!
